POWERLIFTING
Squats, bench and deadlift have long been considered the three ultimate tests of strength, and powerlifting is the sport that focuses exclusively on all three. At Peak we have invested in top of the line equipment - Goliath calibrated plates and squat, bench and deadlift bars, Valhalla monolifts and benches, and a range of Kabuki Strength speciality bars.
When you're lifting at Peak, it's gonna feel like it'll feel at comp.

With decades of experience in powerlifting and coaching, Terence Kuipers and his partner Liz Blackthorn run Team Kuipers, a team of national and world record-holding athletes who Liz and Terence take to a full calendar of comps each year. They specialise in comp prep coaching, so if you're thinking of competing in powerlifting, whether you're starting out or have been at it for years, they'll get you as ready as you can be with individualised programming, weekly one-on-one coaching, and weekly team training, all centred around getting to comp and knowing exactly what you're doing. If you haven't gone to comp before with 35+ people who all have your back, you don't know what you're missing.

A big misconception we commonly hear from beginner lifters is that they don't feel like they're "strong enough" to compete. There are NO entry restrictions in powerlifting competitions, so if you can pick up the bar, you can compete. In Team Kuipers whether you're pulling 30 or 300kg, each and every member is an athlete and ALL progress is celebrated by the team. equipped lifting
Equipped powerlifting involves the use of stiff, hard suits and shirts while squatting benching and deadlifting. It is the way powerlifting was originally performed, and here at Peak we have a sizeable and growing group of equipped lifters within Team Kuipers, our resident powerlifting team.

If you're an equipped powerlifter, you'll already understand that equipped lifting is a team sport. With much of your movement restricted, and much of your training being performed at high percentages of your max, you need people around you that know you, know your equipment, and understand how to jack, spot and also program and structure training for equipped lifters.

STRONGMAN
With a huge variety of different events and a strong grounding in historical feats of strength from around the world, strongman training will test your grit, determination, speed, strength, balance, coordination and fitness.

Using a massive variety of implements, you will lift, carry, press, drag, throw, flip or otherwise manouevre your way through a strongman session, and you'll soon find yourself doing things you didn't realise your body was capable of. At Peak we have a massive variety of competition-spec Stand or Submit strongman equipment, including logs, yokes, stones, farmer's walks, silver dollar attachments, axle wheels and bars, grip training equipment, duck walks and monster dumbbells.

Team Kuipers, our in-house team, has a strongman arm and we take a group of lifters to a variety of strongman comps throughout the year. There is a growing number of strongman comps each year catering to high level athletes as well as beginners, so it's easier than ever to start competing in strongman.

At Peak we have highly competitive strongman athletes, lifters trying out strongman from another specialisation such as powerlifting, and beginners wanting and fun and unique way to become functionally strong.
